All Hallows

It was a classic weekend for All Hallows, with all kinds of strange creatures running around in the strange light.

Zoe the golden retriever, sweetest dog on the street, is the blur to the right. She's wearing her skeleton costume. She seemed chagrined about it this year whereas last year she enthusiastically bounded into our house and ran around the dining room.

Ghosts and skeletons, skulking in an otherwise respectable Toronto neighbourhood.

Whatever could this be?

Just a fast-moving tabby!

You really have to be vigilant this time of year. Leaves are falling, after all.

Dahlias hang on until the frost against a vivid barberry.

Bamboo sends up fronds towards the maples even as it dries yellowy gold.

And euonymus, common as dirt, sprouts strange orange berries.

Thrushes, chickadees, phoebes, kinglets, white-crowned and white-throated sparrows, white- and red-breasted nuthatches, hairy and downy woodpeckers, and more juncoes than you could ever count flock to the garden for food, shelter, and for rest.

So much beauty.

I love the picture of Harry looking out the window!

Me too: nice reflection. A very thoughtful Harry-moment. Blurry tabby makes me feel a little seasick.

Personally, I think the photos of Daisy on the lam are a riot.
