And so it begins ...

When we moved into our 1930s Arts and Crafts styled bungalow seven years ago, we tackled one large thing --1930s knob and tube wiring-- and a few smaller things, like 1970s wallpaper and carpet on the main floor. Underneath the carpet lay hardwood floors that were in fair enough shape that we and our bank balance decided not to touch them at the time.

Over time we've taken on a project a year (or so) in home improvents: building a perennial garden in the back, building a new front porch and painting the house trim to more be more period-appropriate, renovating the bathroom (ditto, design-wise), reworking the back hall pantry, building a (very) small vegetable garden and a raised bed in the front.

But time and cat claws have had their way with the floor and we decided that they were to be this year's Annual House Project. Stage one: the bedroom and study (living room and dining room get their turn in the fall).

Here's Daisy, caught in the sunny afternoon that is our bedroom.

Here are a couple of slight hints that we may be pack rats...

and hence that packing up such a room might be a pain in the butt:

And then there's the study.

Where we've hung a few family pictures:

And have a couple of shelves of books:

(Not to mention an old jug or two.)

And here's proof that such a room can be easily packed up into ... oh, 40 or large boxes.

All it takes is 2 people and 2 days' work. And a living room and dining room that you don't intend to use for a week.

Next, we go underground!
